Uninstalling
Win XP 1/10
After a month of running XP I had to uninstall it .While I enjoyed messing around with the operating system , it was a little to sluggish , for me at least . WIN XP's best feature would be it's stability . It only crashed twice in a month . Instead of giving you the BSOD (blue screen of death) , it conveniently reboots your machine automatically . While this seems peachy , and all . I honestly dropped my frag rate on Unreal Tournament & RTCW . The frame rates where definitely down to a noticeable level , and screen quality sucked . I tried a couple of beta drivers , but nothing had the same game play . This probably isn't completely Microsoft's fault ,the biggest reason would be my ATI (video) drivers just didn't deliver the performance I was used to . Soooo , until a screaming driver comes out for a Radeon AIW for XP , I'll revert back to WIN ME <gasp>. The best thing XP comes with , is the uninstall option . If you've done an upgrade from 95? , 98 , ME , or 2000 , it's easily done . Unfortunately no screenshots were taken , but it shouldn't be necessary . Simply open the control panel...go to install/uninstall programs , and towards the bottom should be WIN XP . Another checkbox or two , and I was back to my original ME config . It saved all my hardware drivers and settings !! Update 01/13 : Just found an interesting link to WinXP video problems .It basically says XP doesn't set the optimum refresh rates : ( Could this be the next WIN OS ? |
