After
accidentally formatting my C:drive ( don't ask ) , I decided to load
Linux ....the distro known as Mandrake . The principal reason behind
this , would not only include the cost of running a wintell based
webserver , but the security ( code red worm ...any body with a text
file to firewall will know what's up ) , but the blatant abusive
monopolistic behavior they Microsoft has exhibited , and been found
guilty of .
I know any corporate enterprise would try to maximize profits any way they could during a downturn ......but the WindowsXP licensing and planned .net initiative are slap in the face considering they have been ruled guilty by a federal panel of monopolistic behavior . Any hooo ...... I've loaded the Mandrake.ISO , burned it , installed it , and messed around a bit with it . I'll attempt to re-create the install , first hand , as a guide to others wishing to learn about Linux . I hope my end result , will be a highly configurable websever .
