Today’s business tip comes from Mark Bradford. This is a story that Mark likes
to tell his new employees during their orientation at the bank; it’s about the
value of choosing words carefully, particularly when dealing with clients. It’s
a valuable lesson for all of us. Thanks for sharing Mark!!
One day, I was walking through the lobby of the bank when I noticed a rather
dishy blonde that was in line at the teller window. As I glanced over, our eyes
met, she raised her hand to wave and smiled hello to me.
I was rather taken aback that such a looker would be waving and smiling to me,
and although she looked familiar I couldn’t place where I might know her from.
So naturally I crossed the lobby to speak to her, and I said "Hello, I am Mark
Bradford, president of this bank. You look very familiar, and although I am
usually very good with names and faces. I can’t recall how I know you."
She replied, "I may be mistaken, but I think you are the father of one of my
children."
I was slightly panicked, but then my mind shot back to the one and only time I
has been unfaithful.
"Holy shit," I exclaimed (too loudly), "Are you that stripper from my bachelor
party that I screwed on the pool table in front of all my friends while your
girlfriend whipped me with some wet celery and stuck a cucumber up my @ss?"
"No," she replied, "I'm your son’s English teacher.”
